IP RESOURCES CHARTER
GIN IP Resources is NTT DATA's liason with APNIC, ARIN, LACNIC, and RIPE, the Regional Internet Registries (RIR) that manage the Internet Protocol (IP) resources in their particular region of the world. We participate in RIR meetings and policy discussions, regularly review policy and trends in IP addressing, and ensure that NTT DATA's processes are aligned with the registries. We manage all IPv4, IPv6, and AS Number (ASN) allocations provided by each RIR. This includes monitoring for efficient utilization of IP space, updating RIR databases, and requesting additional resources from any of the RIR, if necessary.
Specifically:
- We define and enforce NTT DATA's IP policies and procedures in accordance with RIR policy. NTT DATA's IP Public Policy can be found on our public web site: http://www.gin.ntt.net/about/policy/ip.cfm
- We review and approve customer (internal and external) requests for IP addresses.
- We maintain all IP and reverse DNS objects.
- We manage assignments of all Autonomous System Numbers (AS Numbers/ASNs).
- We set up delegation for reverse DNS.
- We will provide Letter of Authorization (LOA) for multihomed customers to use their NTT DATA assigned IP addresses with other ISPs (where allowed)
- We manage RPKI (Resource Public Key Infrastructure) records for all IP addresses, including creating and managing ROA (Route Origin Authorization).
- We review and allocate IP space to NTT DATA's Centers of Excellence (CoE aka Factories) for use in assigning to customers and their internal infrastructure.
- We work with NTT DATA's legal department(s) on any non-standard contractual agreements involving IP resources.
- We work with various internal and external organizations to ensure invalid IP space or ASNs are validated or routing is ceased on the NTT DATA Global IP Network (AS2914).
- We manage and update the VIPAR DB to reflect address allocations, SWIPs, and network reconfigurations.
- We provide customized reporting on VIPAR data for internal use.
Overview of IP Resource Tools:
The VIPAR database is our primary database of record for tracking all IP space (v6 and v4). The db consists of the following:
- Web and email interface for viewing/creating/deleting and modifying entries
- Whois and rwhois interface for viewing data
- Authoritative reverse DNS delegation information
- IP utilization information
European IP Address Form
- Provides a Web Interface and validation of RIPE IP request fields
- Allows for streamlined assignment of IPs (Inetnum objects)
- Facilitates assignment of RIPE IP space
